Father’s Day

Although there are many reasons why I decided to run, my primary motive for running are my children and grandchildren.

At nearly every event, I am asked why I’m running for Governor. Although there are many reasons why I decided to run, my primary motive for running are my children and grandchildren.

Like far too many parents, I had to hug and kiss “goodbye” to my beautiful daughters, sons-in-law and grandchildren when Hawaiʻi became too expensive and unpredictable for them to remain living in. They are now thousands of miles away, but the sting of their departure remains close by
Becoming a father radically changed me; I became a man with new priorities. No longer focusing on work and success, rather, paying attention to our family, learning to listen and spending time with our girls, this became my highest priority in day-to-day life. Now, as a grandfather to seven, the need to make a positive difference and impact has only grown.
God’s greatest gift to humanity are the children we are blessed with. Proverbs 17:6 says, “Grandchildren are the crown of the aged, and the glory of children is their fathers.” The greatest joy of my life was raising my two girls. Kim and I taught them to put the Lord first, be honest and hardworking, and to live honorably.
I believe all who run for office should be doing so for a greater good, yet far too many see political positions as a path to prosperity and power. In this season of my life, this race for Governor is the opportunity to do good, for my family and yours, and to show my children and grandchildren what it looks like to fight for what is right and just. The confusion, manipulation and outright lies coming from our political leadership must be stopped, and I intend to be the one to put an end to it. My run for Governor is an attempt to bring righteousness back to the political system in Hawai’i.
As you celebrate Father’s Day with your friends and families, remember that this election cycle is our opportunity to change the dangerous course we are heading in and to place people in positions of power who will never take advantage of Hawai’i’s people.
Thank you for trusting me as your gubernatorial candidate.
ALOHA,
Happy Father’s Day!
